The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has formally obtained an arrest warrant against former Petroleum Minister Timipre Sylva on allegations of conspiracy and dishonest conversion
of $14.86 million linked to an investment by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) in Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Ltd.
The Federal High Court in Lagos issued the warrant on 6 November 2025, empowering law enforcement to bring Sylva in for questioning. The former minister has not yet responded publicly to the charges, but the case adds new urgency to Nigeria’s ongoing anti-corruption drive and highlights the deepening scrutiny of the oil and gas sector.
