The Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, has returned to Abuja after representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at two major global summits. Shettima first attended the 2025 G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, and then proceeded to Luanda, Angola, to participate in the 7th AU–EU Summit.
During the AU–EU summit, he delivered President Tinubu’s message calling on African nations to be granted permanent, veto-wielding seats on the United Nations Security Council — stressing that global governance reform is long overdue. The statements also underscored Nigeria’s commitment to continental cooperation on security, development, and equitable global governance.
On his return, a statement from the Vice President’s office confirmed his arrival in Abuja, marking the end of a diplomatic mission aimed at advancing Nigeria’s interests on the global stage.
