Nigeria striker Taiwo Awoniyi has graduated from the PFA Business School with a Postgraduate Diploma in Global Football Sport Directorship, earning the qualification with Merit, according to an announcement he made on social media.

The 28-year-old Coventry City forward, who joined the club permanently from Nottingham Forest last month in a deal reportedly worth around £9 million, had been enrolled in the programme since September 2024.

The diploma, delivered through the Professional Footballers’ Association’s Business School in partnership with the University of Portsmouth, is designed to train current and former players for careers in football operations, sporting strategy and club leadership once their playing days end. The course was developed with input from former sporting directors including Andoni Zubizarreta and Les Reed.

Awoniyi described the achievement as “another proud moment” away from the pitch, adding that he remains focused on his playing career while continuing to build toward a potential future in football administration.

The Nigerian international previously earned a diploma in business administration and marketing management and has been pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business administration through online study, alongside his professional football commitments.

Awoniyi made more than 100 appearances for Nottingham Forest before his move to newly promoted Coventry City this season.
