🇳🇬“I Never Invited Donald Trump into Nigeria’s Situation” — Obi Fires Back

Table of Content

In a fresh statement, opposition leader Peter Obi has firmly denied allegations that he invited former U.S. President Donald Trump to intervene in Nigeria’s security challenges.

Obi condemned the claims, calling them politically motivated fabrications meant to distract from the current government’s failures on insecurity, rising cost of living, corruption, and other national crises. He dismissed as “falsehoods” the suggestion that he sought foreign interference, arguing that the narrative was crafted to undermine his integrity and public standing.

According to Obi — in a statement released through his media team — the idea of Trump’s involvement is widely known to have originated from outside his camp, insisting it has “nothing to do” with him. He accused a senior government spokesperson of spreading disinformation in order to divert public attention away from pressing governance issues.

The former presidential candidate emphasized that his political focus remains squarely on internal reforms: improving security, addressing poverty, strengthening education and healthcare, and reducing economic hardship — not drawing foreign actors into Nigeria’s affairs.

Obi urged citizens to disregard fabrications he believes are designed to distort public discourse, calling on Nigerians to stay focused on “the journey toward a new Nigeria.”
