The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has reported that the Armed Forces of Nigeria recorded significant operational successes across the country in January.
According to reports from the DHQ, coordinated land and air operations conducted during the period led to the neutralisation of several terrorists and criminal elements, the arrest of over 452 suspects, and the rescue of 284 kidnapped victims nationwide.
The military high command stated that the operations were carried out across major theatres, including the North-East, North-West, North-Central, South-South and South-East, as part of ongoing efforts to tackle terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other forms of criminality.
The DHQ further reported that sustained military pressure forced many terrorists to flee their hideouts, while some surrendered alongside their family members. Troops also recovered arms, ammunition, logistics supplies and other items linked to criminal activities.
In the South-South, the DHQ said troops intensified actions against crude oil theft, resulting in the destruction of several illegal refining sites and the arrest of suspects involved in economic sabotage.
The Defence Headquarters reaffirmed, in its report, the commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to safeguarding lives and property and urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with credible intelligence.
