The United States has confirmed the deployment of a small group of soldiers to Nigeria as part of renewed counter-terrorism cooperation.
According to reports, the team is expected to support Nigerian forces in the fight against extremist groups such as Boko Haram and ISWAP, mainly through intelligence, surveillance, and operational assistance — not large-scale combat.
The move signals deeper US–Nigeria security collaboration amid rising insecurity in parts of the country.
