U.S. President Donald J. Trump has signaled that he may meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin — but only on the condition that a proposed peace agreement ending the war in Ukraine is finalized or is in its final stages.

According to the president, his administration has recently achieved “tremendous progress” toward ending the war, with the original U.S.-drafted peace plan revised to reflect input from both sides. He said there remain only a few points of disagreement.

As part of efforts to finalize the deal, the administration has dispatched envoys: one to Moscow to meet President Putin and another to Kyiv to consult Ukrainian officials.

However, President Trump made clear that any personal meeting with Zelenskyy and Putin would only occur once there is confidence the peace deal is effectively complete.

Analysts observe that while the statement raises hopes for a diplomatic breakthrough, major challenges remain — including territorial disputes, security guarantees, and agreement from all parties to the terms of a lasting settlement.
