Dangote Industries Limited launched a whistleblowing initiative Sunday offering a 500,000 naira cash reward for information leading to the arrest of individuals illegally using Dangote-branded trucks to haul unauthorized goods, as part of a broader effort to protect its logistics operations.
The company said each of its subsidiaries’ trucks is restricted to carrying specific products: Dangote Cement vehicles are limited to cement, limestone, gypsum, coal and clinker; Dangote Sugar Refinery trucks to sugar products; NASCON Allied Industries trucks to salt and seasoning products; Dangote Packaging vehicles to bags and packaging materials; Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals trucks to polypropylene products; and Dangote Fertiliser vehicles to urea fertiliser. Any truck found transporting goods outside these categories will be treated as involved in illegal haulage, the company said, warning that both drivers and cargo owners face arrest, confiscation and prosecution.
Dangote said it has set up dedicated hotlines at its Obajana, Okpella and Gboko plants for the public to report suspected violations, and asked whistleblowers to supply details such as truck registration numbers, cab numbers, vehicle location, cargo description and photographs where possible. The company said law enforcement, including the police, has been authorized to arrest drivers found misusing its trucks for unauthorized commercial haulage.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening transparency and accountability across Dangote’s nationwide logistics network and comes as the conglomerate continues to expand its industrial footprint, including recent moves to raise refining capacity and explore partnerships in Africa’s oil sector.
