Explosions Rock Doha as Qatar Repels Second Iranian Missile Attack in Hours

Table of Content

A second series of explosions rang out over Doha on Friday, believed to be Qatar’s air defenses intercepting incoming targets, hours after the capital had already repelled an earlier missile attack from Iran.

Qatar’s Interior Ministry said a child was wounded by missile fragments and is receiving medical treatment. The country’s Defense Ministry earlier confirmed it had intercepted missiles targeting Qatari territory. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said its aerospace force struck the US Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar as part of what it called the 15th wave of “Operation Nasr-2,” describing it as a continuation of retaliatory strikes against American targets across the region.

Air raid sirens sounded in neighboring Bahrain for a second time Friday morning, with authorities there issuing a fresh alert. The attacks are part of an intensifying exchange between the US and Iran that has drawn in multiple Gulf states hosting American forces, following the collapse of a ceasefire reached last month and a fifth-plus consecutive day of US strikes on Iranian territory.
