The U.S. Secret Service confirmed on Tuesday that it is aware of a video aired by Iranian state media appearing to threaten the life of Barron Trump, President Donald Trump’s youngest son.
“The U.S. Secret Service is aware of the video and investigates anything that can be perceived as a threat toward our protectees,” Secret Service spokesman Nate Herring said in a statement. “Out of concern for operational security, we do not discuss matters of protective intelligence.”
The footage, reportedly released by media linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, claimed a $10 million bounty had been placed on the president’s youngest son. The clip, titled “Where to kill Barron Trump,” included images of dormitories at New York University, where Barron Trump attends school, and concluded with the line, “This is just the beginning! Barron Trump, wait for us!”
Iranian media have repeatedly circulated content threatening President Trump and his family since the U.S. killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei at the outset of the US-Israeli war with Iran earlier this year. A similar video previously targeted First Lady Melania Trump, titled “Where to Kill Melania?!,” which used AI-generated imagery and publicly available information to identify locations she is known to frequent in New York City.
Trump has previously said he believes he is at the top of Iran’s “kill list,” commenting in July: “I’m on whatever list… so far, I guess I’ve been a bit lucky, but maybe that doesn’t last very long. These are evil, sick people.” He made those remarks at the NATO summit in Turkey, shortly before slipping out of the country on an alternate military plane as part of a security ruse prompted by a specific threat involving a shoulder-fired missile.
CNN reported this is believed to be the first time Barron Trump has been publicly singled out in Iranian threats, though Melania Trump had previously been targeted. The White House has been asked for comment.
