The Nigerian Army has announced the loss of two senior officers and several personnel following a deadly ambush carried out by insurgents in Borno State. According to the Army’s official communication, the officers were part of a patrol team operating in the Wajiroko–Azir–Multe axis of Damboa Local Government Area when they came under heavy attack.
Military authorities confirmed that the fallen officers were respected commanders whose leadership had played a significant role in ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the North-East. The Army described them as courageous professionals who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
The Chief of Army Staff expressed deep sorrow over the incident, extending condolences to the families of the deceased and affirming that the military remains committed to eliminating insurgent threats in the region.
