North Korea tests short-range ballistic missiles

Out near the water along the eastern edge, North Korea sent several small ballistic rockets flying early Saturday. Seoul’s defense team confirmed the launch activity. This marks another show of force from Pyongyang, adding to a string of recent weapon tests. The projectiles landed in the ocean, posing no immediate threat inland. Officials are reviewing flight details while staying alert.

Out near the middle of the sea, just off the coast from where they started, missiles showed up on radar after leaving land. South Korea’s military command said the paths were brief, ending between Japan and the peninsula. Movement began far inside the country, not along the shore.
Furious over the launches, South Korea called them a breach of U.N. Security Council rules – destabilizing nearby nations. It pushed Pyongyang to stop any more aggressive moves, framing silence as complicity.
Missiles flew outside Japan’s economic waters, officials noted, though regional safety worries grew anyway. A troubling signal, they called it, despite clear boundaries on paper.
Now comes these tests, as nerves tighten across the Korean Peninsula. All while Pyongyang pushes ahead with missile efforts, brushing off global penalties meant to stop it.
Some experts suggest these tests usually aim to show power or react to drills done together by Seoul and Washington.
Word from North Korea’s official outlets did not come right away about the recent trials.
Still, talks about giving up nuclear weapons haven’t moved forward. The UN keeps urging North Korea to drop its missile efforts.
