Striker David Okereke has parted ways with US Cremonese after four seasons with the Serie A club, with his contract reaching its natural conclusion at the end of June.

The 28-year-old, a former Nigeria U23 international, joined Cremonese in the summer of 2022 and went on to make over 100 appearances for the side across multiple divisions, helping the club navigate stints between Serie A and Serie B during his time there. His run at the club included a loan spell at Turkish side Gaziantep during the most recent campaign, after which he returned to Cremonese for what turned out to be his final months with the team.

Okereke’s future had been the subject of transfer speculation for over a year, with clubs including Cercle Brugge, Rayo Vallecano and several Serie A and Serie B sides reportedly showing interest at various points. None of those moves materialized, and the Lagos-born forward instead saw out the remainder of his deal in Cremona.

Standing at 1.81m and capable of playing across the front line as a target man, presser or supporting striker, Okereke now enters the market as a free agent, leaving him open to negotiate with interested clubs without a transfer fee involved.
