TEHRAN, April 20 — Iran has reopened its main airports in the capital, Tehran, allowing flights to resume after a temporary suspension linked to regional security concerns, state authorities said on Monday.

Operations have restarted at Imam Khomeini International Airport and Mehrabad International Airport, the country’s primary aviation hubs, following safety and airspace reviews.

Flights had been halted as a precaution during a period of heightened tensions in the region, which prompted wider restrictions on civilian air travel. Officials said the reopening would be carried out in stages, with schedules gradually returning to normal.

Aviation authorities added that monitoring of the security situation remains ongoing, and adjustments could be made if conditions change.

The resumption of operations is expected to ease travel disruptions for both domestic and international passengers, though airlines may take time to fully restore regular services.

Iran has periodically imposed airspace restrictions during times of regional instability, reflecting broader concerns about aviation safety in conflict-sensitive zones.
