The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has congratulated Nigeria’s Super Eagles following their hard-fought victory in the third-place match at the Africa Cup of Nations, securing the bronze medal for the country.

In a statement released on Sunday, Akpabio praised the players, coaching crew, and team officials for their resilience and professionalism throughout the tournament, describing the bronze medal finish as a proud moment for Nigerians at home and abroad.

He noted that the Super Eagles demonstrated courage, discipline, and national spirit, especially after the disappointment of missing out on the final, adding that their performance reflected the fighting spirit Nigerians are known for.

“The Super Eagles have once again reminded the world of Nigeria’s rich football heritage. Their determination and teamwork have brought joy to millions of Nigerians and strengthened our unity as a nation,” the Senate President said.

Akpabio also urged the team to see the achievement as a foundation for greater success in future international competitions, assuring them of the continued support of the National Assembly and the Nigerian people.

Nigeria defeated their opponents in a thrilling encounter to clinch third place, ending their AFCON campaign on a positive note and restoring national pride after an intense tournament.
