Dangote Cement sets September 21 London investor briefing ahead of LSE listing

Dangote Cement Plc said Wednesday it will hold a Capital Markets Day in London on September 21, as it advances plans for a secondary listing on the London Stock Exchange.

In a notice to the Nigerian Exchange, where the company holds its primary listing, Dangote Cement said senior management would use the event to update investors on its strategy, operations and business priorities, and to hold direct discussions with stakeholders. The disclosure, signed by company secretary Edward Imoedemhe, said further details on the agenda and logistics would be released closer to the date, with presentation materials to follow in line with disclosure requirements.

The London event follows an announcement on May 12 that the company intends to pursue a secondary listing on the LSE, a plan subsequently approved by shareholders. Group president Aliko Dangote said in an earlier interview with the Financial Times that the company plans to sell approximately 10 percent of its shares to external investors as part of the listing.

The timing places the briefing on the same day FTSE Russell is expected to reinstate Nigeria to its Frontier Market index, ending a multiyear absence tied to past foreign-exchange liquidity constraints — a shift that could direct fresh passive investment flows toward Nigerian equities, including Dangote Cement’s.

The company, Sub-Saharan Africa’s largest cement producer, reported a net cash position of 215.2 billion naira for the first half of 2026. It said the proposed London listing is intended to broaden its investor base and improve access to international capital, while its existing Lagos listing will remain central to its domestic market presence.
